Kanban in Practice: unlock your team’s power

Many teams are permanently busy and struggle to finish their work. Meanwhile, they often feel they can deliver better. The root issue is rarely effort. It’s often related to overload, too much parallel work, and unoptimized processes. Meanwhile, this situation creates stress, delays, and frustration for teams, their management and clients.

This training suggests and explains small, targeted changes to the process that can rapidly transform how tasks flow through a team. The session is built around a practical simulation that allows participants to experience these effects and imagine how apply these techniques to their current environment. Participants will be pleasantly surprised by how these “small” changes can produce visible improvements in efficiency and focus within a very short time.

The training is designed for team members and managers from any sector (financial, public, customer service, industry, IT, …). Formal authority is not required: participants leave knowing how to trigger meaningful improvements immediately and sustainably from any hierarchical level.

After the session, participants will be able:

  • Clearly see why team members feel overloaded and where inefficiencies come from
  • Come to their teams with clear, simple, pragmatic improvements they can apply from the next working day, even without a managerial role
  • Create visible efficiency gains in their teams without increasing workload
  • Reduce the team’s stress by introducing simple process changes
  • Put in place simple indicators of the team’s efficiency to measure the improvements

This training follows a “prove it first” approach based on a “smart game”. Participants experience concrete results before learning the theory behind them. After a brief introduction to the theory, participants will switch to hands-on techniques and approaches they can implement in their environments.

The session is organised in an interactive mode, with illustrations from real cases. Short explanations, guided debriefs, and practical reflection ensure that improvements feel achievable and credible in their environments. Every session is tailored to participants' profiles and environments.

At the end, participants will receive a printed and electronic handout of the presented approach, which they can share and implement in their teams.

Content
  • Typical causes of overload and inefficiency in teams
  • Experiencing flow improvement through a practical team simulation
  • Visualising work and clarifying priorities
  • Limiting parallel work to reduce stress and delays
  • More efficiently managing workflow without reorganising teams or roles
  • Introduction to Kanban principles and practices (theory)
  • Measuring efficiency: lead time, throughput, work in progress (WIP), etc
  • Identifying small, low-risk improvements applicable in daily work.
Learning Outcomes

On completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Detect hidden sources of overload and stress in their work system
  • Make work and priorities visible to the whole team
  • Apply Kanban practices that produce immediate, observable and measurable improvement of the efficiency and reduce stress of the team
  • Initiate small process evolutions without formal authority
  • Track whether changes lead to tangible improvements in flow and focus.
