Elements of AI Luxembourg
Supported by the Luxembourg government as part of its national artificial intelligence strategy, the Elements of AI Luxembourg programme is coordinated by the Department of Media, Connectivity and Digital Policy, implemented in collaboration with the Digital Learning Hub, and enriched by the cooperation of Institut de Formation de l'Éducation Nationale (IFEN) to meet the specific needs of the teaching community.
An AI programme for all
In today’s rapidly evolving technological landscape, understanding the fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is more critical than ever. AI is reshaping every industry, and those who understand it gain a clear advantage. Whether you are a student, a professional, or simply curious, this course equips you with knowledge to better understand, question, and apply AI in real-world contexts – and strengthen your role in a fast changing labour market.
The programme is also ideal for anyone who wants to feel confident engaging in AI-related conversations at work or in everyday life, providing the insights and guidance needed to make complex AI concepts clear, approachable, and easy to discuss.
Elements of AI Luxembourg, organised by the Digital Learning Hub, empowers everyone with the essential knowledge to navigate the future of AI. By completing the online Base Training, you will gain an understanding of how AI works, its impact on society and the economy, the sectors involved, the underlying technologies, the risks and opportunities, how AI methods are created, and the key trends shaping the future.
The Digital Learning Hub enhances the learning experience and supports participants in obtaining certification through Online Coaching Sessions and in-person Talk Time sessions.
What is the programme about?
The Base Training is a free, certified, online course consisting of 6 chapters that combine theory with practical exercises. You can complete it at your own pace, and it will take approximately 30 hours. The Base Training is mandatory to obtain certification.
- Chapter 1 – What is AI?
Introduces the basic concepts of artificial intelligence, clarifies common misconceptions, and explains where and how AI is used in everyday life. - Chapter 2 – AI Problem Solving
Explores how AI systems solve problems, focusing on search methods and algorithms used to find optimal solutions. - Chapter 3 – Real-World AI
Demonstrates how AI works in real-life situations, including decision-making under uncertainty and practical data classification examples. - Chapter 4 – Machine Learning
Introduces machine learning and explains how systems can learn from data using techniques such as classification and regression. - Chapter 5 – Neural Networks
Presents the fundamentals of neural networks and their role in modern AI applications like image recognition and language processing. - Chapter 6 – Implications of AI
Examines the ethical, social, and economic impacts of AI and encourages critical thinking about its role in society.

Six Online Coaching Sessions will be organised via Teams on the different modules to provide you with deeper insight and offers you the opportunity to ask questions. The sessions will be held online, in English, Luxembourgish and French on a given date. Each session will be led by Felix Lieser.
Participation is free and optional, simply register in advance to join.

The Talk Time sessions are based around specific topics of today’s applications of AI. These free, in-person sessions in English provide the opportunity to ask questions, discuss real-world examples, encourage discussion, and connect directly with experts. Sessions are added on an ongoing basis.

Everyone! The programme is open to any citizens of the Greater Region, whether you are employed in the private or public sector, seeking for a job, studying, or simply looking to get a first glimpse at AI.
FAQ
The Base Training will be conducted in English. The Online Coaching Sessions are available in Luxembourgish, French and English. The Talk Time sessions are mostly held in English.
No, the Base Training, the Online Coaching Sessions and the Talk Time sessions are all free of charge.

Registration is possible all year round, the course can be done at your own pace. However, we suggest to follow the Base Training between 2 March 2026 and 22 May 2026 to fully benefit from the Online Coaching Sessions and Talk Time.
Elements of AI is a series of free online courses created by MinnaLearn and the University of Helsinki. We want to encourage as broad a group of people as possible to learn what AI is, what can (and can’t) be done with AI, and how to start creating AI methods. The courses combine theory with practical exercises and can be completed at your own pace.
