ELEMENTS OF AI – Talk Time: AI in FinTech Compliance: Navigating Privacy, Regulatory Change, and Runtime Verification

This course provides a practical and accessible introduction to compliance in AI-powered FinTech systems. It covers the basics of regulatory compliance in a financial context and explores how privacy, regulatory change management, and continuous monitoring interact in modern financial services. Through concrete scenarios and interactive exercises, participants will learn to identify privacy concerns, assess the impact of regulatory updates on financial systems, and transform legal statements into compliance rules. No technical prerequisites are required. This training is intended for a broad audience, including Fintech practitioners, legal professionals, students, or anyone interested in understanding how AI is reshaping regulatory compliance in financial services.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this training, the participant will be able to:

Sallam Abualhaija is a Research Scientist at the Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability, and Trust (SnT), University of Luxembourg, and serves as co-PI of the National Center of Excellence in Research and Innovation on FinTech (FutureFinTech). She is also PC Co-Chair of REFSQ 2027.
Her research leverages AI to address key challenges in software engineering and FinTech, with an emphasis on requirements engineering and regulatory compliance. She is particularly interested in legal compliance for building trustworthy, responsible AI-enabled systems. Committed to strengthening academia–industry ties, she has conducted most of her recent research in close collaboration with industry partners.
