Cybersecurity Academy - Cybersecurity in Luxembourg: Ecosystem, Careers and Current Challenges

This session provides participants with a comprehensive introduction to the cybersecurity landscape in Luxembourg, combining a strategic overview of the national ecosystem with practical insights into current cybersecurity challenges and trends.

The keynote presentation explores how cybersecurity is organised at the national level, highlighting the roles of key public institutions, private-sector stakeholders, industry associations, and support organisations. Participants will gain an understanding of the cybersecurity education and awareness landscape, the skills currently sought by employers, and the broad range of career paths available in the field. The session also presents the diversity of cybersecurity organisations operating in Luxembourg, including managed security service providers, Security Operations Centres (SOCs), consulting firms, technology vendors, startups, and international companies.

The accompanying training module focuses on selected contemporary cybersecurity topics and emerging threats. Through practical examples and real-world case studies, participants will explore current attack techniques, defensive measures, cybersecurity best practices, and the evolving threat landscape affecting organisations and individuals alike.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the structure and key stakeholders of Luxembourg’s cybersecurity ecosystem, including the roles of public institutions, private-sector organisations, and support actors.
  • Identify cybersecurity career opportunities and the skills currently in demand across technical, governance, risk, legal, and business-oriented roles.
  • Recognise current cybersecurity threats and challenges and explain fundamental strategies used by organisations to protect their digital assets.
Training Method

The session combines interactive presentations with practical learning activities to ensure both strategic understanding and operational awareness.  Participants are encouraged to actively engage in discussions and share experiences to enrich the learning process and connect cybersecurity concepts with real-world contexts.
