Decentralized Finance (DeFi) is revolutionizing the financial landscape by offering an open, transparent, and trustless alternative to traditional financial systems. This training offers a comprehensive introduction to DeFi and its applications within the blockchain ecosystem. Participants will explore how DeFi protocols work, their advantages over traditional financial systems, and the risks involved. The course covers key DeFi concepts such as liquidity pools, automated market makers (AMMs), staking, and yield farming, along with emerging trends like SocialFi, ReFi, and GameFi.

Content

This training will cover:

  • Overview of DeFi:
    Participants will learn about the role of DeFi protocols in the blockchain ecosystem, comparing them to traditional finance (TradFi). The training highlights the advantages of DeFi, including transparency, efficiency, and permissionless access.
  • DeFi Protocols and Mechanisms:
    The course dives into liquidity pools, automated market makers (AMMs), and decentralized exchanges (DEXs), explaining their role in token trading and financial services. Participants will explore yield farming strategies, flash loans, and the risks associated with DeFi, such as impermanent loss.
  • Staking and Tokenization:
    The training covers liquid staking tokens (LSTs), restaking, and the tokenization of assets, including stablecoins, wrapped tokens, and real-world assets (RWAs). Participants will understand how these mechanisms enhance blockchain security and enable new financial products.
  • Risks and Challenges in DeFi:
    The course addresses smart contract vulnerabilities, Maximal Extractable Value (MEV), and regulatory challenges in the DeFi space. Participants will learn how to identify and mitigate these risks while navigating the evolving regulatory landscape.
  • Emerging Trends in DeFi:
    The training explores cutting-edge trends like SocialFi (the intersection of social media and DeFi), Regenerative Finance (ReFi) for sustainable economic development, and GameFi (play-to-earn models that fuse gaming with DeFi).
  • Hands-On Experience:
    Participants will gain practical experience by interacting with DeFi protocols using tools like MetaMask and Uniswap. They will also build and deploy simple smart contracts, explore yield farming strategies, and provide liquidity in decentralized markets.

Dr. Adnan Imeri is known for pushing innovation beyond the state of the art in various scientific and industrial domains via applied research in the frame of Research and Development (R&D). He has extensive experience in research activities at the European level, accounting for many international projects, designing, developing, and successfully delivering them. Moreover, industry-related experiences, particularly in the designing, engineering, and architecting of software systems, significantly enrich his career.
Adnan currently holds the esteemed position of Research and Technology Associate at the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology. Additionally, he serves as the Technical Lead at Infrachin, further solidifying his standing as a leading figure in the scientific and industrial sectors.
He holds PhD in Computer Science from the University of Paris-Saclay (UEVE) and the University of Luxembourg, focusing on blockchain technology and its applicability in real-world use cases.
