Learning Track - Design Thinking

This learning track is based on two modules.

The aim of the first module, Introduction to Design Thinking, is to convey the approach, culture and methods of the user-centered innovation method Design Thinking. Participants will delve deeply into the fundamentals through a practical workshop, learning how to solve complex problems through creative teamwork and systematic approaches. In addition, the participants reflect on the applicability of the principles of Design Thinking to their own innovation work. Each participant takes from the workshop first skills, which can be used directly for working in teams, in meetings, or on complex problems. Participants will also be offered self-paced online modules, where they will have the opportunity to broaden their knowledge and repertoire of methods and explore the co-creation with AI tools to take their innovation potential to the next level.

In the second module, Design Thinking in Practice, participants from the first module (but also from earlier years) learn to apply Design Thinking on their own projects. The three days are structured in morning sessions with methodological inputs and practical insights from HPI's d-school experts, while the afternoon sessions revolve around the participant’s own projects and challenges: Content from the morning session is directly applied (transfer sessions) and supported by HPI's d-school's coaches.

By completing both modules, participants will be awarded with a HPI Certificate “Design Thinking Practitioner”.

As an added bonus, this will give participants access to the renowned HPI Design Thinking Coach Certificate Program: The modules taken at the Digital Learning Hub will be recognized as equivalent to Modules 1, 2 (Introduction) and 4 (Design Thinking in Practice) of the HPI's d-school's program. To receive the HPI DT Coach certificate, participants only need to complete the remaining modules 3 and 5 at HPI's d-school.
