Design Thinking in Practice

This course provides a comprehensive introduction to initiating, planning, and executing a Design Thinking project. Over three days, participants will learn to define project challenges, scope, and stakeholders, apply effective methods and tools, and create a confident game plan. The course includes practical application sessions and personalized coaching for ongoing support.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, participants will have the skills to initiate, plan, and execute a Design Thinking project. They will learn to define project challenges, scope, and key stakeholders, and effectively plan a Kick-off. Participants will be adept at forming and integrating a team, selecting and applying the right methods and tools, setting realistic goals, and utilizing the latest research techniques. They will also be able to create and confidently implement a comprehensive game plan, including defining vision, mission, tasks, resources, and timing. Finally, participants will develop personalized next steps and coordinate with a lead coach for ongoing support.

Training Method

In the course “Design Thinking in Practice”, participants from the “Introduction to Design Thinking” course learn to apply Design Thinking on their own projects. The three days are structured in morning sessions with methodological inputs and practical insights from HPI's d-school's experts, while the afternoon sessions revolve around the participant’s own projects and challenges: Content from the morning session is directly applied (transfer sessions) and supported by HPI's d-school's coaches.
