Cybersecurity Essentials - Elementar Cybersécherheet (Fréides)

Cybersecurity Essentials is a course that provides participants with a solid foundation in the principles and practices of cybersecurity.

The course covers topics such as data security, malware, passwords, cryptography, network security, and cybersecurity awareness. Participants will learn how to protect themselves and their organisations from various cyber threats, and how to implement effective security measures and policies. The course also includes multiple tests, practical exercises, and a capstone project that simulates a real-world cybersecurity challenge.

By the end of the course, participants will have gained essential skills and knowledge to enhance their cybersecurity competence and confidence.

Please note that this course is taught in Luxembourgish.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the basic concepts and terminologies of IT and cybersecurity
  • Identify and analyse various types of cyber threats and their impacts
  • Apply data security and malware protection techniques to prevent and mitigate cyberattacks
  • Create and test secure passwords and use two-factor authentication for enhanced security
  • Understand and apply the principles and practices of cryptography and cryptographic algorithms
  • Configure and use firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection and prevention systems to secure networks
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement online security best practices
  • Develop and promote a security-aware culture in their organisations
  • Demonstrate their cybersecurity skills and knowledge in a real- world project.
