Introduction to Green IT

In today's world, technology plays a crucial role in every aspect of our lives. However, the production, use, and disposal of IT equipment and services have a significant environmental impact. This course will explore the concept of Green IT, focusing on how to use IT resources in an environmentally responsible manner. Participants will learn about the carbon footprint of digital technologies, energy consumption in IT operations, and the challenges of e-waste. The workshop will also delve into practical strategies for implementing Green IT practices in various settings, including the workplace and at home. 

Content
  • Explore the environmental impact of IT, including the carbon footprint of digital technologies, energy consumption, resource depletion, and e-waste. 
  • Learn about Green IT strategies and best practices for sustainable hardware selection, software optimization, data management, and IT procurement.  
  • Discover how to promote Green IT in the workplace through energy-saving practices, sustainable printing, and fostering a culture of environmental responsibility. 
  • Understand how to implement Green IT at home by choosing energy-efficient devices, responsibly disposing of e-waste, and using technology for sustainability. 
  • Examine emerging trends in Green IT, such as the circular economy and the role of IT in achieving broader sustainability goals.

Training Method
