The success of an IT team depends primarily on the leadership skills of its direct manager. This workshop equips participants with practical tools to set clear and motivating goals, track progress, and adapt their leadership style to different situations. This training includes three workshops:

Workshop 1: The Inspiring & Motivating IT Leader

This workshop covers:

  • Understanding the role of an IT leader beyond technical expertise.
  • The difference between management and leadership in an IT context.
  • Identifying your leadership style and adapting it to different team dynamics.
  • The psychology of motivation: What drives IT professionals?
  • Creating a compelling vision and aligning it with business objectives.
  • Practical exercise: Crafting and delivering an inspiring message to your team.

Workshop 2: Unlocking Your Team’s Potential

This workshop covers:

  • Diagnosing team motivation and performance levels.
  • The 7 languages of recognition: How to effectively appreciate team members.
  • Setting SMART goals that encourage ownership and accountability.
  • Structuring delegation to build autonomy and responsibility.
  • Coaching techniques for skill development and performance improvement.
  • Real-life case study: How to foster a growth mindset in your team.

Workshop 3: Managing Challenging Team Dynamics

This workshop covers:

  • Recognizing and managing different personality types in IT teams.
  • Effective communication strategies for conflict resolution.
  • Providing constructive feedback in high-stress environments.
  • Handling resistance to change and fostering adaptability.
  • Identifying signs of stress and disengagement – and how to respond.
  • Role-playing scenarios: Practicing difficult conversations with team members.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the key characteristics of an inspiring IT leader to engage and motivate their team.
  • Analyze sources of motivation and demotivation within a team to positively influence employee engagement.
  • Use the 7 languages of recognition to effectively appreciate team members’ contributions.
  • Set SMART objectives and communicate them in a motivating and engaging way.
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities in a structured manner while ensuring effective follow-up.
  • Provide constructive and motivating feedback tailored to different scenarios.
  • Develop active listening skills.
  • Recognize and adapt communication channels based on individual perceptions to enhance interactions.
  • Detect and interpret signs of stress in employees and adjust leadership approaches accordingly.
