Elements of AI - Ethics in AI: Balancing Innovation and Responsibility
The Digital Learning Hub offers various workshops for people who have signed up for the online course "Elements of AI" developed by MinnaLearn and the University of Helsinki.
Elements of AI is a free Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) designed to encourage a broad group of people to learn what AI is, what you can (and cannot) do with AI, and how to start developing AI methods.
The MOOC combines theoretical and practical exercises and can be taken at your own pace. Priority for this workshop will be given to participants who are registered for the MOOC.
The course begins with an introduction to AI ethics, covering key topics such as stakeholder roles, bias mitigation, and the ethical dilemmas of technologies like self-driving cars. Participants will engage with practical concepts such as explainable AI (XAI) and fairness while exploring regulatory frameworks like the EU AI Act and GDPR. Through interactive sessions, participants will propose and refine AI projects that address real-world problems, applying the ethical principles discussed throughout the course. The program concludes with a forward-looking discussion on AI's future, balancing its opportunities with the risks it poses to society.
