Elements of AI - AI in Cybersecurity: Challenges and Opportunities

The Digital Learning Hub offers various workshops for people who have signed up for the online course "Elements of AI" developed by MinnaLearn and the University of Helsinki.

Elements of AI is a free Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) designed to encourage a broad group of people to learn what AI is, what you can (and cannot) do with AI, and how to start developing AI methods. 

The MOOC combines theoretical and practical exercises and can be taken at your own pace. Priority for this workshop will be given to participants who are registered for the MOOC.

This workshop will explore the latest development in GenAI and their usage in cybersecurity. The audience will be enlightened with the perspective of Cybersecurity management as a game in which mastering of AI can be seen as a real advantage.  The speaker will address the usage of AI as a security enabler showcasing some use case and implementation. Similarly, Adversarial use of GenAI for compromising both Security and privacy will be reviewed. Towards the end of the session, the speaker will seek provide an answer as to whether AI is a opportunity or a liability for Cybersecurity.

Adversarial use of GenAI in Cybersecurity

  • Case studies of GenAI in the kill chain.
  • Overview of Adversarial use of generative AI.

Secure Integration of GenAI in Operational systems

  • Visiting the LLM Top 10 OWASP vulnerabilities.
  • Practical strategies to counteract GenAI-driven risks.

AI as a Security Enabler

  • AI applications in vulnerability management and incident response.

Learning Outcomes
  • Understanding of the dual use of AI in Cybersecurity
  • Learn on best practices for integrating GenAI in Corporate system

Training Method

Interactive Lectures:

  • Engaging presentations on key concepts, risks, and opportunities of Generative AI.
  • Discussions on regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements.

Case Studies and Real-World Examples:

  • Analysis of real-world incidents involving Generative AI.
  • Group discussions on lessons learned and best practices.
